Ring Death Repair

Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death repair disk.

There are plenty of websites selling "repair disk" that supposedly Repair an Xbox 360 with a case of death 3 red lights. I am a little skeptical, so I'm asking around.Does anyone know of a repair disk really works in solving this problem. Furthermore, I am limited on money, so I can not send it for repair, is that my warranty is voided. Any solution cheap? … Besides the towel trick …

How can the warranty be voided? You have a 3 year warranty on the console to the RROD. Even if you have the console on launch day of 22 November 2005, still must repair the console, since it is only a couple of weeks out of warranty. There is no way you can repair yourself. As others stated, the repair disk is only a instructional video on how to try to "fix" it. But everything you do will only "make the console for repair work only a few more days" until completely desolders graphics chip. The cause of the RROD is a very small heatsink on the graphics chip, causing it to overheat and deform the solder connections underneath. The towel trick the chip still overheats more, so there is a very small chance of further warping board to make a temporary connection again. But as soon as the towel is removed, and the Board cool slightly, again to move and lose contact with the graphics chip. The same is true for the X-Clamp fix. You just try to push the chip to the plate with great force. But this will only increase the risk that the board not being able to expand with heat, and it will eventually crack and break completely beyond any repair. The only way to get rid of the RROD is to get repaired by Microsoft.
